Show Board Outlines Policy on School Rentals Meeting at the school board office in Spanish Fork, January Janu-ary 6, Nebo District Board of Education outlined a schedule of charges to be made for the use of school buildings and adopted a motion setting forth the general policy and new ruling. Rental of. the new Junior high school by the 6th and the 11th wards for Sunday meetings meet-ings was set at $225 per month; $100 of the amount to go to Nebo District and $125 to janitors, effective January 1. Other details concerning the new building rental policy were announced as follows: "School buildings are available avail-able to the public for accomodation accomo-dation and use for additional recreational, social, and moral training purposes. Any group using the school building - is expected to pay the cost of lights, heat, custodial services, and reasonable cost of the general gen-eral upkeep of the building. Breakage or damage of facilities facili-ties or equipment must be paid for by the group using the building at the time that breakage or damage occurred. Damage of property -or any conduct which does not adhere to the standards adopted by the school will be sufficient reason to refuse the use of the building to that individual, group or organization. Through Principal The new regulation also states stat-es that arrangements for the use of school buildings, school grounds, or any day when school is not in session must be made through the principals and the superintendent with J the final approval of the school board and each request shall be considered on its own individual in-dividual merit. Fees and charges for the use of various facilities of the school buildings were specifically specifi-cally set up and approved as part of the new ruling. As outlined out-lined in the official statement ; these were: For the use of the ! gymnasium a minimum charge of $2.50 or $2.50 per hour shall be made for out-of-school organizations or-ganizations or groups such as Boy Scouts and M Men; when used for M Men regional tournaments, a charge of $3.00 per hour shall be made for the use of the gymnasium; when charges are made for admission admis-sion to games, the charge for use of the building shall be $20 or 15 percent of the gross receipts, whichever is greater; for the use of one room in a buliding where little or no extra ex-tra heat or light is required, such as might be used by a small agricultural group, a garden club, or a small chorus ' group, there shall be no charge made (such a request should ; be made directly to the prin cipal) ; for the use of the auditorium audi-torium for civic, individual, or ' political meetings, a charge of $2 per hour shall be made; for the use of the auditorium for dances by small adult groups, a charge of $3.50 per hour shall be made; for the use of the school lunch cafeteria for out-of-school banquets or luncheons, lun-cheons, the charge shall be $10 for the evening plus $1.25 per hour for the custodian and $1.25 per hour for the lunch supervisor; for use of the building where a charge is made for special entertainments entertain-ments such as drama, musicals and special programs, the charge shall be $15 per performance; per-formance; for the use of the building when activities or agencies are under the sponsorship spon-sorship of the district, such as adult education and civil defense de-fense classes, no charge shall be made. Officers Elected Also during the board meet Leo A. Crandali was elected president of the board for the 1958 year. Other matters of importance to come before the group included in-cluded a statement of funds to Dec. 31, 1957, showing operating opera-ting funds of $627,574.57 now available, furtherance of action ac-tion toward the contemplated addition to the Salem School, authorization of the district clerk to redeem notes in the amount of $200,000 on January 15, and issuance of orders for exchange of 129 typewriters in high school classrooms. The clerk was authorized to call for quotations to purchase milk needed in the school lunch department for the remainder re-mainder of the year, the bids to be submitted by January 17. The superintendent also read a letter from Dean Jones, thanking the board for sending him to the Western Speech. Assn. Convention in Santa Barbara, Bar-bara, Calif.
