Tom Davis, a Park City miner, had a thrilling experience with a wildcat last Saturday, in which the cat came out second best. While passing under a tree in the canyon the cat sprang down upon Davis. He grappled with it, and securing a neck hold he choked the life out of the beast. The wildcat was very lean but of unusual size. Charles Botha, better known as "Dutch Charlie," the Grand county murderer, has been sentenced to be shot to death on December 29th, next, within the prison yard of the State penitentiary. Botha says he doesn't want a new trial and will face the muzzles of the six rifles like a man at any time his executioner execu-tioner is ready to attend to the little lit-tle job. There is an obliging criminal crim-inal for you. Now that the election is over the next thing in order for the men elected to the legislature is to get positions for some of their friends. A meeting of the local Republican committee at Ephraim recently, decided by a vote of 7 to 11 to recommend re-commend Peter Mortensen of that city for a position in the legislature with A. W. Jensen as second choice for the position of secretary of the Senate. -Pyramid. The Richfield Reaper has been made defendant in a suit for damages dam-ages tiled by Jens Hansen. Suit grows out of the publication of an alleged libelous article in the issue of the Reaper of Nov. 28, 1901, with the heading "A Tar and Feather Fea-ther Game," "Lawless Punishment Attempted on Jens Hansen." The plaintiff claims he has been damaged dam-aged to the extent of 3,000, and asks for judgment in that amount. |
