Show SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE ACCIDENTAL ACCIDEN-TAL POISONING OF J. UAHOON, SR. Cardston, N. W. T., Dec. 12, 1902. Editor Free Press, Manti, Utah. Dear Sir: For the information of the Manti people, concerning J. C. Cahoon, Sr.'s condition, I send you the following: In the early part of November, father came into my office, after work, and having a bad cold, I told him to go and get him something for his cough. He went to the drug store and asked for Boyls' cough cure. The druggist said they did not have Boyls' remedies, and gave him a bottle of Viper of Tar, at the same time saying it would answer the same purpose. No further conversation between them. Father came back to the office and we started for home. When within one block from the house he commenced coughing again and continued until we reached home. As soon as we were inside, father took the bottle from his pocket and took a ewallow be fore reading an' directions. He strangled and choked and nearly went into fits from the dose. I at once picked up the bottle and read the directions, which stated ''not to be taken internally nor externally, but to be boiled over a lamp and inhale the fumes." We at once administered oil, milk and everything we could think of to counteract the poison, and at once sent for the doctor. The doctor, doc-tor, when he arrived, said it would not prove fatal, but that he would be quite sick, which he has been. I am glad to say that he is recovering recov-ering slowly and is able tg be out again, but it will be a long while before he fully recovers. Thanking the people of Manti and the papers for their sympathy in father's behalf, I am, Very truly yours, James C. Cahoon. |
