scofield Bc ofield began tuesday wagon loads of people leople have been pouring in from the outlying dirig districts hundreds more came in on the train there seems to be no end of braes bra s bands choirs and musicians all the mines and workshops work shops are closed down and the town is gaily decorated with national colors the two days session are being held bold in the round bouse which has been fixed up for the occasion and has a seating capacity vf 2500 tto tle session was waa conducted conduct en under the direction of the eisteddfod committee which consia consisted ted ot of the william L sones jones at 2 p m chairman john hood called the session sevelon to order and introduced mr J B R sharp master of ceremonies who in a neat speech introduced his Excelle excellency nev goy gov bober beber M wells president of the day the tha musical exercises opened with a grand chorus the star spangled banner under the baton of prof IEL H E giles at the cons lusion of which the M of 0 called upon his excellency the governor who responded delivering an eloquent and inspirational address which was received with the greatest demou demonstration of appreciation and enthuses jasm the first contest piece wai a tenor solo ye a breezes that blow the prize was waa 5 and there being but one entry it was awarded to mr william T evans his rendition was waa certainly good and merited the prize librock Ti brock of donald dhu was the contest selection for the military bagpipes prize ta 5 which was awarded to mr hugh hunter he gatt gart the pipes skirl 1 the recitation for adults asleep sleep at the was the next selection and out of three entries but two re rex apon ded the prize being awarded to miss libbie walton A soprano and alto duet lowas lwe was placing ing hide and seek was waa the tha next contest con tasS piece the juvenile singers the swinger brothers ivere the only contestants and the abe adjudicator on this account withheld the prize I 1 spring morning was the selection for the ladies chorus the prize for this being awarded to the scofield chorus club i land of my fathers this beautiful tenor solo olo was rendered ran dered by william T evans and an immense chorus with thrilling effect throughout the exercises a number of special features were introduced among which were a comic song by mr ferguson of provo prove and an organ solo by prof H E giles at 7 p m the second session of f the eisteddfod was called to order the opening chorus america was rivet given under the direction of prof H E giles the enthusiasm exhibited upon the rendition ot 01 th la
