Official representatives representa-tives of the railway unions throughout France were .reported at a secret meeting in labor heacKmarters at Paris today and decided to issue an ultimatum to Clem-enceau Clem-enceau that unless peace is signed by July 1 they will strike on that date They will recommend a general strike throughout through-out France which will tie up all commercial, commer-cial, political. Industrial and economic life. Pierre Kenaudell, leader of the Socialist So-cialist party, joined in tho warning to the premier, following a vigorous discussion, discus-sion, in which he attacked the government's govern-ment's policy. The labor parties are greatly Incensed at the delay of a conclusion of peace and openly blame Clemenceau for failure to bring the Germans to book. However, they have refused to countenance the general gen-eral strike announced for June 10 and which will tally closely with reports of a general strike of electrical workers. It was announced officially today there would be no demonstration on that date, but unless peace is signed and assurances given of better conditions of living they will be unable to prevent a walkout July 1, which would completely tie up French industry. Announcement of the threatened railway rail-way strike gives a serious setback to the hopeful strike situation. It was reported yesterday the subway workers would return re-turn to. work without winning their fight Some underground trains are running on all lines of Paris.
