Show Church Worker for Many Years Passes Away at Home Near Provo. PROVO, Oct. 2S. Bishop William Var-ley Var-ley of the Vineyard ward died suddenly at his home at 7:30 o'clock last evening, of heart trouble. Mr. Varley had been working in the field during the day and Had not complained of illness. He was born December 11, 1S61, at Bountiful, Utah. He came to Vinyard twenty-six years ago and had been an ardent worker in church and civic circles. For many years lie was superintendent of the Vineyard Vine-yard school and later was councilor in the ward bishopric, which office he held for eleven years, until he , was appointed bishop of the ward, which position he had held for six years. During 1902-3 Bishop Varley fulfilled a mission to the northwestern states. During Dur-ing his life in Vineyard he had engaged in farming with pronounced success. He enjoyed a large circle of friends in the ward over which he presided, as well as in Provo and the community at large. 'Bishop Varley is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Eliza Irene Wright of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Florence Duke and Mrs. Sarah Ellen Hol-ley Hol-ley of Linrlon; Mrs. Ethel F. Robinson and Mrs. Zapporah Prestwich of Salt Lake; Beulah Varley and Lowell Varley. He is also survived by four brothers and -three sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday Thurs-day morning at 11 o'clock in the Vineyard meeting house. The body may be viewed at the residence in Vineyard from 10 to 10:30 o'clock on the day of the funeral. |
