Show DAYLIGHT SAVING. It is evident that a great majority of the citizens of Salt Lake .believe congress erred when it repealed the daylight day-light saving law and then overrode the veto of President Wilson. It is like-wise like-wise evident that the people p many other sections of the country hold the same view, for the authorities of some of the larger cities, notably Cincinnati and New York, have adopted daylight saving plans of their own regardless of what congTess may see fit to do in tho premises. Tho law, originally enacted en-acted as a war measure, worked so well that most people took it for granted that it would never be repealed. The farmers, however, found fault with it for various reasons and 'were strong enough to induce the senators and representatives rep-resentatives to take action. People living in the cities did not take any great amount of interest in the' matter until it was too late to enter a protest. Since the law was repealed sentiment in favor of re-enacting it has been growing with gTeat rapidity and petitions peti-tions are being circulated asking tho senators and representatives to reverse their recent decision. This sentiment is just as strong in Salt Lake'-'as elsewhere else-where and soma of the department stores are performing a public- service by backing the movement. It is ou& of the Twentieth century ideas and its worth has been amply proved. -' |
