Show TRUANT OFFICER IS STATE'S DUTY, CLAIM Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Aug. 28. At a meeting of the city commission this morning, L. E. Eg-gertsen, Eg-gertsen, superintendent of city schools, called attention of the commission to the fact that a new state law provides that children , between the ages ' of 6 and IS years must attend school. He then asked that the city employ a truant officer. This the commission refused to i do, stating that it was a matter for the ! state to handle. The commissioners, however, agreed to pay $50 a month toward employing a nurse for the school year. A committee from the First ward pasture pas-ture appeared before the commission to discuss the matter of disposing of a portion por-tion of the east drain water, which is used to irrigate First ward pasture lands: The matter was referred to the city attorney. |
