Show AMUSEMENTS ' Audience Recites Troubles to Alexander WHAT are the reasons why my husband hus-band does not love me, if any? This and hundreds of other questions are being answered at the Salt Lake theater the-ater this week by Alexander, "the man who knows." He says his object is to mystify and entertain, and he does both. He is assisted in the entertaining by three charming young women, who dance and sing In a mystic atmosphere of oriental ori-ental draperies and incense. Alexander warns the audience fhat the various lrttle stunts he does,' such as producing pro-ducing pigeons out of the air and creating pictures of Uncle Henry and Aunt Mathilda, Ma-thilda, are patented and copyrighted. The master of legerdemain, attired in the costume of a Yogi of India, keeps up a lively chatter while he answers questions, written on slips and passed out through the crowd. Some blushing young things who inquired about their sweethearts' constancy wished they hadn't, and the ones who didn't get their answers went home in doubt, resolved, perhaps, to come again in ordei to get the "low down" on the triflers. Eugene O'Brien in "The Perfect Lover" Begins Run at American Theater Today. Hp HE extent to which a motion picture company will go in an effort to make everything as true to life as possible Is seen In "The Perfect Lover," Eugene O'Brien's first Selznlck starring production, produc-tion, which will open at the American theater today. Mr. O'Brien plays the role of a struggling strug-gling young artist and several scenes in the play represent an art studio. To make certain of getting the proper atmosphere and realism, Director Ralph Ince encaged over a score of real artists from the Art Students' league to appear in the production. produc-tion. These artists brought all their own materials to the sttidio, even their own model, and went about their work in regular everyday style. During the days in which they worked in "The Perfect Lover" each one of the artis'.s completed a painting that would be worthy of a place in any gallery. The gradual completion of the paintings from the first rough sketch to the perfected product can be seen as the scenes in "The Perfect Lover" unfold. |
