Show U. S. DEFENDANT IN DAMAGE SUIT NEW YORK. Nov. Z. The United States government Is defendant in a suit to recover $10,000 brought today by Hell & Co., exchange brokers, for the alleged failure try the Western Union Telegraph company to deliver a cable message. Postmaster General Burlesson had charge of the telegraph companies under President Presi-dent Wilson's war proclamation at the time the message was said to have gone astray. The cablegram, which was addressed to a London broker1 last Marcn. ordered the purchase of 100,000 pounds sterling at $4.55. it was stated, and when it was not delivered Heil & Co. was forced in April to pay a higher rate. |
