Show HUT OF CLOSED CAR jSAT HflNO First Shipments of New Oldsmobile Coupe Due This Week. The early part of this week Salt Lakers will be given their first glimpse of the new Oldsmobile inclosed models. Two shipments of the new model coupes, are expected by A- F. Tourssen, distributor of Oldsmobiles and Oldsmobile Economy trucks, within a few days. These shipments ship-ments will be followed by others of the same model as quickly as they can he turned out by the factory and shipped to Salt Lake. The demand for Oldsmobile Inclosed models, which has been notable all season, sea-son, along with the general trend of the motor buying public toward the closed j cars for all -year driving, has increased with the approach of winter. The new Oldsmobile coupes are described as being among the handsomest cars on the market mar-ket today. "The demand for closed models is ex- I ceptionally strong this year." said Mr. ; Tourssen yesterday, "as many people have learned that the coupes, sedans and others of the same type are excellent for all -year use. Naturally the coming of cold weather has greatly stimulated the I usual demand. "It Is certain that the day of the closed car is here. Better roads, together with the absolute necessity for using passenger automobiles the year round, have caused the popularity of closed automobiles. In the belief that this demand will continue to increase, rather than decrease, extensive exten-sive plans are being rut into effect at the Oldsmobile factory to increase the production pro-duction of sedans and coupes accordingly. "In addition to the already established facilities for building inclosed models, an ' enormous new two-story plant is now being be-ing equipped for thia purpose. When operating op-erating at full capacity, this factory will turn out 100 Oldsmobile inclosed models each day. "While the Oldsmobile passenger cars have maintained their popularity, the same may be said of the Oldsmobile Economy Econ-omy truck, hundreds of which have been put' in use here this year. Both the passenger pas-senger cars a nd the truck arc bearing out the best traditions of motor building as developed by the Olds Motor Works during its twenty - two years existence." |
