Show M'GAFFIGAN HELD AT CAMP MERRITT 1 Special to The Tribune. SACRAMENTO, Cal., March 26. Marty McGaffigan may not be able to open the season with Sacramento. He is still in the army at Camp Mcrritt, but wiites that he hopes to be out in a couple of weeks. Until he arrives 'Jack O'Neil will probably hold down the short patch. Sacramento fans are very well pleased to have outsiders say that second base is the weak spot on the team. They argue ar-gue that if every other job is as well 'taken care of as second base, with Bill Rodgers on guard, they will have no kick coming. Bill was stricken with sn nv blindness- several years ago, and since that time he has had trouble with his eyes, but he played good ball last year, and if he has slipped any since he has covered his weakness very cleverly. |
