Following the organization of a nonpartisan, nonmUl-tant nonmUl-tant and nonsectarian womun'? otcrs ; league, the afternoon session of the National Na-tional American Woman Suffrage association associ-ation adjourned late today without deciding de-ciding on a name for tho league. The motion of adjournmen t came f ol low i ng two hours of heated debate as to the name best suited for the newly formed organization. It had been agreed that the name should not be applied until after the convention in February, 1120, in order that the present name of tho association associa-tion to be in effect at the convention, which is to be a centennial celebration of Susan B. Anthony's birthday. Two Houses Proposed. . Tho object of the new organization, which is in the form of two houses, one composed of delegates from voting states and the other from non-voting states, is to secure prot ect ion in their right to vote to the women citizens of the United States by appropriate national and state legislation and to increase the effectiveness effective-ness of women's votes in effecting better government. Delegates from tho nou-voting st ates shall compose, the .house .of delegates and j those from suffrage states the house of ! voters. Militant suffragists were arraigned bitterly bit-terly for their public demonstrations and denounced as obstructionists to the success suc-cess of the amendment. Sectional executive conferences composed com-posed the nipht session. Speakers included in-cluded Mrs. Frank J. Shuler, Miss Mary Garrett Hay and Miss Rose Young, all of New York City. |
