Show FRENCH RESERVES ARE ARRIVING AT THE BATTLE FRONT PARIS, May 30. The battle aIon the fighting front continued all night, "with the French maintaining the western outlets out-lets of Soissons, the war office announced an-nounced today. French reserves are continuing to arrive ar-rive on the front and the German ad-Vance ad-Vance is being resisted with great tenacity. In the center of the German advance fighting is taking place in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of Vezilly (approximately eighteen miles south of the Chemin-des-Dames, where the German attack was launched on Monday). The statement follows: The battle continued with undiminished un-diminished violence during the night. French troops energetically maintained main-tained western outlets of Soissons, and the enemy, notwithstanding repeated re-peated efforts, was not able to debouch de-bouch from the town. Farther south engagements of ax-' treme violence developed in the region re-gion of the road between Soissons and Partennes and on the front between be-tween Fere-cn-Tardenois and Vezilly, where French troops, supported by reserves, re-serves, are opposing the Germans' advance with indomitable tenacity. On the right, Franco-British troops along the front between Brouillet and Thillois, and also northwest of Rheims, broke all assaults and maintained main-tained their positions. |
