Show INFLUENZA AFFECTS COAL PRODUCTION WASHINGTON, Oct. 21. The epidemic of Spanish influenza, which has been particularly par-ticularly severe in the mining regions of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, brought a further decrease in coal production during dur-ing the week ended October 12. Figures furnished the fuel administration by the geological survey today showed a total production for the week of 12,321,000 tons of bituminous and of 1,955,000 tons of anthracite coal, decreases of 2 per cent and 4 per cent, respectively, for the two classes over the previous week. |
