More than 3000 prisoners were captured by the British yesterday in the operations north of I ,e Cateau, when the Selle river was crossed on a wide front, according to Field Marshal Mar-shal Main's statement today. In the Valenciennes region the British are approaching St. Amand, six miles northwest of Valenciennes. North of Tournai they are puslihiB forward to the line of the Scheldt river.
