Show WEBER COUNTY HAS GHEATIOAN TOTAL District's Oversubscription Is $175,000 Reports by Officers Show. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Oct. 20. Ogden and Weber county went over the top In the fourth Liberty loan drive with a big margin, according ac-cording to the figures which were re-checked re-checked today. The total oversubscription oversubscrip-tion is $175,000. The grand total for the district was $2,352,000 and the number of subscribers is 13.572. The report of the district, Secretary O. J. St 11 well of the general committee said, was one that the district would be pleased to communicate to our boys In the various branches of the service. The fact that there was an epidemic of Influenza In the city and a number of rumors of peace talk seemed to add to the enthusiasm and determination determina-tion of the people. The loan drive was directed by the Ogden Og-den Clearing House association, M. S. Browning, president, and the First National Na-tional bank, W. L. Wattls. Utah National bank; Charles H. Barton, Ogden Savings Sav-ings bank; A. P. Bigelow, Ogden State bank; R. A. Moyes, Commercial National bank; James H. Riley, Pingree National bank; W. H. Shearman, Security State bank. With this committee were James Pingree and W. H. Wattls of the general committee and A. G. Fell, chairman 6t the drive in the county outside of the city. The women's campaign was under the direction di-rection of Mrs. H. H. Spencer. From time to time during the campaign cam-paign the clearing house committee published pub-lished In the local papers the names of those unpatriotic men who have failed to do their bit in buying bonds, war stamps or contributing to the Red Cross. Many of the men have refused to appear before the committee to make explanations of any kind. The committee sessions, it is stated, will be held from time to time in the future until all the slackers In the city and county have .had a hearing. |
