Hendrickson of Gunnison Dies at Front ; Brother Missing. The first Utah soldier has been killed in action on the French froiyt. News has been received in Salt Lake of the death of James L. Hendrickson of Gunnison, Gun-nison, Utah. Mr. Hendrickson was a member mem-ber of F battery, 145th field artillery (Utah regiment). Mr. Hendrlckson's brother, J. M. Hendrickson, also member of the Utah regiment, who went to France and was in the engagement, has not been located, according to the messages received in Salt Lake. The young men entered the engagement in different units, it is understood. un-derstood. Details are very vague regarding the death of James L. Hendrickson. Jt is known, however, he had been in France but a short time, probably not more than one week. He volunteered for action at the front recently while stationed at Camp Kearny. Tho detachment with which he volunteered was a portion of the April replacement re-placement force for the United States army. |
