Show LIBERTY OIL SUNK j? 1015 FEET, IS REPORT Conditions Said to Be Very Favorable for the Making of a Well. Word was received yesterday by Manager Man-ager Lon J. Haddock of the Liberty Oil company, operating in the Spring Valley district, that the drill had penetrated the third oil sands at a depth of 101r feet and tha t conditions were extremely favorable fa-vorable for the making of a well. The informal ion came in a letter from Superintendent Su-perintendent H. T. Morian, who Is in charge of the drilling, and was dated December De-cember CO. Mr. Morian. who has had a wide experience ex-perience in the Pennsylvania oi) fields, expressed the opinion that if the wpII were in Pennsylvania it would be good for fifty barrels a day at its present depth, hut declined to venture any opinion opin-ion as to the capacity until further work has been done. The second sands were tapned at 9y.a feet and the third sands were not expected for some distance yet. Il is the opinion of the management that the real prod u--in g sands, or the Cretaceous Creta-ceous formation, will not he penetra ted under about 10 feet, but it Is expected that something definite as to the success suc-cess of the enterprise wlli be known within a not her week. The fifty-ba rrel production from the third s rids would be contingent upon "shoot ine" the well, and the management manage-ment desires I o go to the fourth sa nds before assuming the risk of ruining a promising well. Tf the fourth sands 'are not productive, it is planned to pul! up to the third sands and "shoot" the well. |
