Show G0VE1HT FIRS EIGHT-CITY LEAGUE Receipts of Games Will Go to Furnish Athletic Equipment. CLEVELAND. Ohio. Oct. S. The government gov-ernment has approved the plan of the National Baseball Federation to form a semiprofessional league to play in major league parks on Saturdays and Sundays d urine the coming season, it was announced an-nounced here last night by Clayton Townes, Cleveland member of the executive execu-tive commit tee of the federation, upon his return from Washington. The league will be comprised of teams represent ing ' eight cities, including Chicago. Chi-cago. Detroit. Cleveland, Pittsburg,'- Cincinnati Cin-cinnati and Akron. The remaining two wi'l be selected from I.ouis tile, Indianapolis. Indian-apolis. Johnstown, Pa., Canton and Pay-ton, Pay-ton, Ohio. Each city will have at least to clubs, one remaining at home while the other is on the road. After expenses have been deducted, the receipts will go to the national commission commis-sion on training camp activities for athletic ath-letic equipment for soldiers and saiiors. |
