Show ALLEGED FORGER IS WANTED IN EAST Representative of Burns Detective Agency Interviews Accused Man in Jail at Ogden. - Special to The Tribune. (XJPEN1, Jan. in,-H.NH. Pavis. who is charged with uttering a forged check for $90 on the Ogden State bank and who has been brought back from Gettysburg, was interviewed in the county jail this morning morn-ing by a detective of the William J. Burns agency, who says he has been trailing Davis for a series of crimes, which embrace a half dozen or more alleged al-leged forgeries committed in various parts of the country. Davis was arrested on complaint of A. P. Bigelow of the Ogden State bank. The local officers say Davis would go into a town and deposit several checks for large amounts in a bank, saying they were from business firms of another town where he had closed out an establishment. establish-ment. He would then proceed to write checks drawing on this bank account, the officers say, and when the deposited checks had been through the mails, taking tak-ing several days, and had been found spurious, Davis would have left. town. |
