Show DEALERS LIKELY TO SUFFEyifi LOSS No Provision for Purchase of Certain Wheat Flour Substitutes. The failure of the United States grain corporation to include rice, oat 'and potato fiour among . the substitutes for wheat flour which It will purchase from present holders In order that the latter may not suffer losses from having laid in large supplies to carry them through the substitute sub-stitute period promises to result in heavy financial loss to those having considerable quantities- of the disfavored substitutes. Many inquiries came yesterday to the office of M. H. Greene. Utah representative representa-tive of the United States grain corporation, corpora-tion, asking if some relief could not be secured for those having large quantities ot rice nour on nana ana tor wuicn mere is no market. A complaint was filed by an Ogden wholesaler, who claims to have 120, 00) pounds of rice flour on hand, for which he paid the top price, in excess of 10 cents a pound, anticipating being able to dispose of It at a profit at the time rice flour was a recognized substitute fori wheat flour and was selling around 12H cents a pound. The best price t hat is i now offered for rice flour is the pre- j vailing price of wheat flour, fluctua ting ; between o3, and 6 cents a pound. If the government offers no relief, this particular particu-lar dealer will be forced to accept a loss of nearly ifflOOO on his rice flour, if he can find a market for It, which does not seem probable. There are said to lie many other dealers in the same position. 4 |
