Show RED CROSS STUFF TO IRK HOLIDAY Demands Upon the Local Chapter Compel Open Hours Today. Arrangements were completed yesterday yester-day for a meeting of the lied Cross 'welcome 'wel-come home" committee for 2 o'clock Saturday Sat-urday afternoon. The meeting will be btld at Amelia Palace, and tentative f"rms of program for iho reception of soldiers sol-diers from overseas will be presented for acceptance. All phases of the proposed oieoming jubilee will 'be considered at this meeting. It is probable that Mayor V". Mont Ferry and a representative of Governor Tlamborgcr will be present. A plan of campaign for increasing the Red Cross membership at the time of the renewal period is being worked out by the Red Cross officials with executives of the Salt Lake Commercial chin. The renewal campaign will open December 16 and is to continue to December 2;t. Headquarters Head-quarters of the drive will be at the Commercial Com-mercial club. Esti mates are needed for the motor corps connected with the Red Cross. Tills organization was started about two months ago, and practically all of its work lias been done by two or three persons. per-sons. These have given not only the i!se of their machines, but their own time day and night. The management of the loraj chapter asks relief for those who have so far carried the burden of this work themselves. Yesterday Mrs. K. M. Bell, a resident of Salt Lake, appeared at the Red Cross shop and claimed the watch found tn a shoe the day before A Mrs. Hell had no trouble identifying the property, which was delivered to tier bv Manager Mrs. George M. Tleers. a traveling man of Denver, Den-ver, who is compelled' to be absent from his own fireside this Thanksgiving, yes-terday yes-terday called at the Red Cross shop and requested to he given- the name and address ad-dress of a needy family of Salt Lake. The name and address were supplied and during dur-ing the day he packed a large hamper with turkev and various sorts of vegetables vegeta-bles and desserts. The basket was delivered de-livered by the Red Cross motor vehicle during the afternoon. ' The new Red Cross flag was unfurled at Amelia Palace yesterday afternoon. The banner is the same size as the old one. |
