Show DEATHS AND BIRTHS FOR. WEEK DECREASE Measles and Chickenpox Are Most Prevalent Pre-valent of Diseases in City, Report Shows. Five fewer births and thirteen fewer deaths oceured iu Bait Lake during last week than in the corresponding week of last year, according to the weekly report re-port 'of tho city health board, issued yesterday. There were fifty-nine births and thirty-two deaths since last Sunday. There were 119 eases of contagious and infectious diseases reported in the last week, measles and chickenpox heading the list with 43 cases each, and the remainder being scarlet fever 13, German-measles 8, smallpox 3, mumps 2, diphtheria 1 and whooping cough 1. In the corresponding period of last year there was an epidemic of measles, 4i0 cases being reported. This year the disease is under much better control, owing to the fact that the health department de-partment has used every endeavor to prevent its spread. |
