LEHI HOOPERS END SUCCESSFUL SEASON Wiih last Saturday's game with Springville Spring-ville the Lehi high school basketball players play-ers finished one of tiie- most successful seasons of their history. They started the season with but one veteran on the s(uaLi. and lie with but one year's previous pre-vious experience. However, by hard work and strict training they rounded into an Alpine division champion five. In the six games pla.yed in that division they rolled up scores that left no cpjestion as to the right to the championship honor. In addition to having defeated the teams of their division they have met and defeated de-feated the teams representing the 1j. D. S. U. seconds, Kast high, West high, Y. M. C. A. Stickers. Chicago descents, Jordiin high and Grantsville. Following are the scores for the season: sea-son: Lehi SS L,. T). S. Evans, the other forward, has made an excellent teammate for Gray, seldom failing to send the oval through the basket for a counter when passed to him. Clark, at center, is the only man on the team with any previous experience. His defensive work is one of the distinctive features of the team, having held some of the best scorers In the game without a goal. Winn, at guard, lias showed excellent form. He has usually been pitted against the heaviest heav-iest scoring opponent and has usually Torced the adherents of that forward to find some excuse for his low scoring. Davis, the other man, is a very effective offensive guard. In addition to holding his man to a low count he annexes a substantial number for himself. On the substitute line Cox, Spencer and Worlton have all showed class. Each of these men have played in one or more league games and have never failed to make a good account of themselves when called upon in an emergency. Other men deserving of mention are Miller, Brown, Gardner and Peterson. These men have done consistent work in the second string and deserve no small amount of credit for the development develop-ment of the first team. The prospects for a championship team next year are very bright. Practically all of the men who have participated this year will be back, and these, together with the new material, gives Lehi bright hopes for next year's hoop season. |
