Show PITY THE ITALIAN SOLDIER There is a similarity in the plight of the Italian soldiers in their attempted invasion of Greece and of the Russian soldiers in their conquest Of Finland last winter. The Finnish soldiers fought, with such valour that the whole world admired them in their hopeless defense. The Greeks have accomplished miracles in their drive against invading Italians. There is no question of the merit of Italians and Russians as eoldiers. It seems to be true that a man can fight with the strength of ten when he is defending his family, his home, his country and his way of life. The pity is that the Russian soldiers did not know why they were fighting and the Italian soldiers are fighting a war lor which they have no heart. Recently a naturalized American who came from Greece not uo many years ago approached a friend of Italian background and a; ked a donation for the Greek relief. ' How can I give you a donation? Don't you know I have relatives rela-tives in the Italian army?" the amazed Italian-American raid. "You'd better be glad you can give then. Your money .v,ill help feed the Italian prisoners the Greeks are taking," was the forthright forth-right answer. The Italian sympathizer saw the logic of that and gave $10 00 tor a good cause. |
