Show GRANITE STUDENTS TO HOLD ELECTION Great Enthusiasm Shown by Two School political Parties; Rally to Be Held During Noon Hour Today. Great excitement and enthusiasm Is neing exercised by the students of the Granite High school over the election of student body officers which takes place on Monday, January 22. Candidates for the offices were nominated last Thursday afternoon and since that timp the two political parties of the school have bpen working hard for their respective candidates. candi-dates. The following were nominated: For president. "Pill" Young; vice president. presi-dent. Oretta Wilson and Bessie Jones: secretary, Jed Ashton. Morris Knott and Pong-lass Love: athletic advisor, Lincoln Ure: yell master. Clarence Johnson and Andrew CJini. The political parties of the school are the "Loyalists" and the " Popularises." Tbe former had its rally last Friday at noon and the Popular party will hold its hig rally today at 1?:30 p. m. Principal Bennion has arranged that the election will be civil in form, so that the pupils may get the advantage of practicing the real privilege of every United States citizen. The Granite High school faculty Is at present working on one of the big problems prob-lems of modern education and hones to get some valuable results from it In school work next year. Principal Ben-nion Ben-nion and his faculty are attempting a reorganization of the regular methods of high school Instruction. The two big 'mints which a re being developed are : First, "Content of Subjects Taught"; second. "Reorganization of the Methods of Instruction." Prof. Howard R. prises, head of the English department of the Universitv of Utah, lectured 1o the fac-ultv fac-ultv on the subject of "Socialized Recitations" Reci-tations" last Tuesday and affirmed the p'a n being worked out by Mr. Ben nion. Other of the universitv professors will probably be heard on the subject in the near future. |
