Show MRS. M. H. DE YOUNG SUMMONED BY DEATH End Comes to Wife of San Francisco Publisher After Loug Illness. W SAX FRANCISCO, Oct. 21. Mrs. Kate de Young, wife of "M. H. de Young, publisher of the San Francisco Chronicle, Chroni-cle, riierl n t tile family residence here late last night, after a long illness. The death four years ago of her only son, Charles, was a shock that cont'-ihutod to the breakdown soon after of the mother's moth-er's health. Mrs. de Toung was widely known for her philanthropic and humanitarian work. She labored indefatigably in behalf of the San Francisco Polyclinic. Women's exchange and Children's hospital, all of whk-li she helped to found, and for a . fresh nit Ik fund for children. Until her health failed Mrs. de Young alro had been active socially and she had entertained many notables. Madame Ade-lina Ade-lina P;ttti and Sir 1-1 envy Irving were numbered among her friends. Mrs. do Younar was Miss Kate T. Dcane of this city. She wa married to Mr. de Young hi 1S. Her daughters are Mrs. tfrorco T. Cameron, Cam-eron, Mrs. Joseph O. Tnl.Mn. Mrs. Ferdi-nnnd Ferdi-nnnd Thioriot and Miss Thill is de Young. All members of trie family were at the bcrtiUde when Mrs. de Young passed away. Funenil services will he held Tuesday. |
