Bohlin, as a rule, confines his running to the 4(10 and M)0 meter races, which correspond with the American quarter and half-mile events. Zanders, while he sometimes competfS at these distances, js better in the longer contests, ranging from 3000 to 5000 me- ters. Both of these athletes were named uy Coach Ernie Hjertberg as probable members mem-bers of the Swedish track and field team which it whs proposed to send tQ this country last summer. They have been developed since the Olympic games, held at Stockholm in 1912, and have equalled or bettered the International Amateur Athletic federation records several times. The members of the American five, man track team who competed in Scandinavia Scan-dinavia last autumn were greatly impressed im-pressed by the running of the two Swedish Swe-dish amateurs. Bohlin defeated Ted Meredith five times at distances ranging from St'ni to 100 meters, but the former University of Pennsylvania star turned the tables upon Bohlin in the 400 meter races. Zanders a'fio defeated Meredith in a 1000 meter race. |
