Show VITALITY OF CODY ' AMAZES DOCTORS ' ' Buffalo Bill, ' ' Noted Scout, Gains Strength in Spite of Reports of Early Approach of Death. DENVER. Colo.. Jan. 9. The remarkable remark-able vitality shown bv Colonel William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), said by his physician physi-cian to be dying tonight, was a source of amazement to his medical attendants and members of the family at the bedside. bed-side. According to Dr. J. H. East, who has been in constant attendance, the noted scout gained strength during the day. although the heart action was verv weak and digestive functions had ceased. Early tonight it was said he had been sleeping quietly for two hours. Colonel Cody was breathing spasmodically. spasmodi-cally. Dr. East said, winch was considt red a grave symptom. At intervals during dur-ing the day. when the patient rallied from the effects of medicines, the physician physi-cian said, he was irrational. Late toniU Dr. East issued a statement state-ment saying tiiat Colonel Cody was resting rest-ing quietly. "He may live for several days." said the physician, "and, in view of his condition condi-tion lonisht, I would be greatly surprised if the end would come for at least twelve hours." |
