Through failure to realize the fury of a woman scorned, Mike Giobenfelt. alias j Henry Colin, now in the city jail, finds himself in jeopardy on a white slave ' charge before a federal tribunal, to say no thins of the possibility of- bigamy charges, should the federal case fall through bv any chance. Giobenfelt calls Los Angeles his home. Mrs. Giobenfelt No. 1 lived there with him. It is alleged by federal officials that in February of this year he took another woman. Ida Cook, from Los Angeles An-geles to Douglas, Ariz., for immoral purposes, pur-poses, thereby violating the Mann white, slave act. 1 It is further shown by a marriage license li-cense issued at Provo, under date of August 8, that one Giobenfelt secured a license to marry Rosie Goldstein. Both then gave their place of residence as Salt Lake ' Upon receipt of this startling information informa-tion the original Mrs. Giobenfelt, leaving leav-ing her children behind, hastened to Salt Lake and laid her case before the authorities. au-thorities. She furnished much information informa-tion of value as to the prosecution under the Mann act. Then Mrs. Giobenfelt No. 1 laid in wait until the capture could be effected. The scene came yesterday morning at 10:15 o'clock at Second South and State streets. The Mrs. Giobenfelt from Los Angeles suddenly appearea. She was armed with an umbrella, with which she belabored the aliased nusfiand until a policeman appeared and took her spouse to the station. Giobenfelt yesterday denied the charges made against him and declared that he was not married to the woman who wielded the umbrella. He also declared that he was innocent of any act which might be construed as violating the Mann act. Yesterday afternoon the woman whom Giobenfelt is said to have married after securing the license at Provo appeared at the station. She said she was Mrs. Giobenfelt and asserted that the prisoner has some of her property which she wishes to obtain. The investigation for the department of justice was made by Leon Bone, special spe-cial agent, with headquarters in the federal fed-eral building. Giobenfelt, according to , present plans, will be tanen to Tucson, Ariz., within a few days to appear be- ! fore the federal court there to answer to I the white slave charge. |
