Show WILL NOTIFY MINES TO ABANDON HORSES City Commission Confronted With Proposition Prop-osition of Maintaining Purity of the Water Supply. The question of the purity of Salt Lake City's water supply bobbed up again yesterday, when the city commission commis-sion was advised that the Cardiff and Muxficld mines have discarded the experiment ex-periment of motor tractors, and returned re-turned to the use of horse-drawn vehicles vehi-cles in Big Cottonwood canyon. The city improved the roadway in the canyon can-yon under an agreement with the mining min-ing companies that tractors would be used, eliminating possible con t apt in a-tion a-tion of the watershed through the horses, but now the named mining companies com-panies say that the tractor engines cannot can-not handle the output of the mines. The decision of the commission was to the effect that the mining companies should be held to their agreement, and that they should be required to maintain a sufficient tractor service to take care of the mine output without tin? use of horse-drawn vehicles. The matter was referred to the law department, with instructions to notify the mining operators opera-tors (hat the horse-drawn vehicles must be abandoned and that, if necessary, injunction in-junction proceedings will be instituted. |
