Leaden skies and , snow flurries throughout the day presaged the first real evidence of oncoming winter. While the Republicans virtually closed their campaign in this county last night, the Democrats will serve one more installment in-stallment of redftre and speeches Monday Mon-day evening. They have arranged a labor meeting- at tho Orpheum theater, at which Judge ViUiam H. King, Democratic candidate can-didate for the senate, and MM ton H. TVelllng. Democratic candidate for congress, con-gress, will be the principal speakers. There will be an 1 automobile parade prior to the t heater meeting, which is scheduled for 8 o'clock. The parade line, headed by the Ogden Federation band, will form on Twenty-fourth street, near the Democratic headquarters, and traverse the principal business streets. The meeting In the Alhambra theater last night closed the city campaign for the Republicans. According to C. R. 1 lollingsworth, manager, the following meetings will bo held in the country districts dis-tricts of the county Monday evening: Pleasant View, a p. m., Lon J. Haddock and the Rev. Christian Oarver; Eden. S p. m., David-I. Stine and Sam Powell; .West Weber, 8 p. in., Judge J. A. Howell and Dr. E. P. Mills; Hooper, 8 p. m., T. Karl Pardoe and William N. McKay; Plain City. 2 p. m., Nephi D. Morris; I liberty and HuntsvHle, 8 p. m.. Judge W. H. Reeder, Jr., anri.John A. Sneddon. According to S. S. Smith, in charge of the canvass and registration for the Democratic Dem-ocratic committee, the registration books of the county show that approximately 10. son persons are. entitled to vote next j Tuesday. This figure, according to Mr. j Smith, dos not include about 2000 per-I per-I sons who are registered, but who have removed from districts and the county, or who are not eligible to vote for other reasons. With favorable weather, Mr. Smith experts that noi less than S."00 people of the total 10,300 registered will vote next Tuesday. From the t standpoint of those persons who had expressed their preference for President Wilson and their intention to vote for him on Tuesda y, Mr. Smith said the Democratic organization had registered reg-istered approximately four people for every one registered by the Republicans. Mr. Holltngsworth said the Republican campaign organization had no information to give out for publication concerning the canvass or registration. |
