Show UTAH-GROWN BERRIES NOT UP TO WEIGHT T. L.. Irvine, chief of the weights and measures department of the city board of health, who last Tuesday condemned fifteen cases of strawberries shipped from a Pacific coast point because they failed to come up to the required legal standard of weight, yesterday condemned a quantity of berries which had come from Utah points. The reason was not for quality, but because of quantity, tests having shown both quart and pint measures to be "shy." Under the provisions of the law the quart must be a "full" quart, at least 21 ounces, and the pint at least 10 V6 ounces, and It Is t lie purpose of the department de-partment to see that the provisions of the ordinance are enforced. |
