Show SIOUX CITY PLANTS TO REMAIN CLOSED SIOUX CITY. Ia., Feb. 27. The breach ' in settlement negotiations between officials offi-cials of the Cudahy and Armour Packing companies and the 2300 strikers at the Sioux City plants was ' widened today, when at a mass meeting of strikers It was decided to demand the original scale of 22 cents an hour for ali common laborers, la-borers, instead of accepting the 21 cents an hour, which Saturday was practically decided upon. Unless the packers grant a written agreement setting forth that there shall be no deviation from wage scaleB for one year, or shifting of men from one department depart-ment to another with less wages, it was unanimously decided there will be no settlement. set-tlement. Officials of both companies have refused re-fused to grant these demands. Parkers believed today that the strike would be settled by the granting of another concession con-cession of 1 cent to tlie strikers. This was unanimously rejected when no written writ-ten agreement was advanced. Both packing plants will continue closed. Meantime strike leaders are endeavoring to Institute sympathetic strikes at the Armour and Cudahy plants in South Omaha, St. Joseph and Kansas City. No disorder has marked the strike thus far. |
