K I Ladies Literary Club Will Stage Production With j Local Settings. SCENARIOS by local author?, ! played by local talent, staged and filmed "by local people probably prob-ably will take the place o"' the annual production of a standard j drama this winter at the Ladies' Lit-icrary Lit-icrary club. I. imbued with tho idea that the photo play represents the modern drama, the i dramatic section of the Ladies' Literary Liter-ary club has turned its attention to the "movies," with a view of producing produc-ing three or four scenarios for the annual an-nual entertainment in January. For some time the members of the dramatic section have been attending the various moving picture theaters in the city several times each week to study and criticise the productions. The criticisms coverod not only the staging, but the character ,of the play. As one member . expressed it, the photoplay photo-play as tho modern drama can do great good or great evil and the purpose was to select those along the lines that would do the most good. Kaeh week the interest has increased until it was decided with enthusiasm that a scenario should be written by the club members i:o take the place of a standard play at the annual entertainment. enter-tainment. But when it came to selecting select-ing a theme each member had a different dif-ferent idea. To overcomo this obstacle Mrs. L B. Palmer, chairman of the dramatic section of tho club, suggested that each individual write a scenario along tho line she thought best. As a result about a dozen of the members are hard at work and all of the scenarios scen-arios aro expected to be completed by the first of next week. From those submitted a committee will select four or five scenarios that seem to have special merit and thev will bo produced by the dramatic talent tal-ent of the club. The pictures will be made by a local motion picture concern and the films will be shown at tho annual an-nual entertainment in January. At former entertainments when standard dramas have been produced considerable histrionic ability has been displayed by various members of the club, and it is believed that the photoplays photo-plays will hear comparison with some produced by professional talent. To mako the scenarios of more than ordinary ordi-nary interest local themes and scenes will be, employed as much as possible. |
