Show SOPHS TIKE L 0. S, HIGH SCHOOL TITLE i Defeat Juniors in Final Game, Thereby Winning Class Championship. The sophomores of the I. D. S. high school yesterday defeated tho juniors in the final game of the interclasa series, IT to 10. The winning of thia game put the second-year men in the lead and made them the champions of the Interclas series at that institution. The playing of yesterday's game was necessitated because of the Ineligibility of Drouhay, who centered for the sophs when they beut the juniors in their firat game. The garao was looked forward to with great inLereat, because if the Junior! had won it the business, junior and soph quints would have been tied tor ttrat place. The final standing: of the teams is as follows: Hophs, first; business, second; Juniors, third; seniors, fourth; freshmen, fifth. The class games this vear have been very close and interesting. Coach Miller is pleased with the showing made bv the men and now has a big squad from which to pick his school team, With three old players to build around, namely, Smith. Williams and Taylor, lie snould produce a team that can run anv high school team in the state a close race. Two-Time Winners. The last two years the U D. S. teams have won out in this division, but have lost in the final game in the stale tournament. tourna-ment. One of the reasons for this Is that they started training long before the opening of the season, so that by the time tiie final games rolled around thev were stale. By starting late this year Miller expects to overcome this handicap and have his men in the pink of condition condi-tion for their final games. With tho opening open-ing of the regular basketball season only a month away, real work for the bas-keteeis bas-keteeis will begin at once- At noon yesterday the Juniors and sophs had a battle royal in the halls because be-cause the sophs objected to the juniors having a rally there. The juniors objected ob-jected to their objection and a lively battle bat-tle ensued. This scrap was keenly Interesting In-teresting and put everyone on edge for the game. Long before the game started a big crowd had gathered and packed the old gym to its capacity. One of the features fea-tures of the game was the cheering by the members of the two classes. From the first whistle the two teams started to scrap and tills fighting lasted until the end. The game was exceedingly exceed-ingly fast throughout and at no time was there any "stalling" by either team. The teamwork of the sophs was better bet-ter than that of the third-year men, as was alpo their passing. With their superiority su-periority In these two departments standing stand-ing them In good stead, the sophs managed man-aged 1o double the score of the juniors for the first half. The score at the end of this half was 12 to 6. Is Fast Battle. After the intermission both teams came back strong and kept up the fast work of the first half. For the first few minutes of this period tho fighting was I eo fierce that for several minutes not a J point was made. In this half also the j sophs outplayed the Juniors and beat them, 6 to 4, making the total score 17 . to 10 in favor of the second-year men.
