Show TO PREVENT SPREAD OF RABIES TO UTAH Conference to Be Held by Governor Spry With Other Officials on the Matter Governor W 1 iam Spry will hold a con ference today with the state livestock in spec or and the state board of sheep com mlssioners to determine upon what meas ores should be taken to present a spread of he rabies epidemic among Nevada coyotes and dogs to I. tah. Nevada California, Oregon and other western states have reported these epi demies. Madness is spreading among coyotes which are biting sheep and cat tie and infecting them with the rab es. No cases have been reported In Utah, but rabid coyotes were reported as nea as Ely Nov and Dr J S Boggess. sur geon of the United States pub health service has requested Utah to co-operate with the other western states in combat ting the plague among the animals. Go ernor Spry therefore decided to meet w th Dr A C Toung state livestock inspector and veterinarian, and Secretary A. A Calllster of the sheep commission There are no signs of the epidemic among Utah animals said the go eraor but It is a good thing to be on our guard. Also we want to co-operate with the other states In stamping out the dls esse. I ha e had only a brief telegram from Dr Boggess on the subject and I ; don t know what is proposed for the states to do. W hatever is decided upon. Utah will do her share |
