S guilty told how they had mads illegal registrations and cast a. number of bal lots on election day for which most of them rece ved $1 each 1 Green said he registered five times in about an hour and a half in the j Tavlorville pree net He said he f changed h s coat and hat sometimes to d gu se himself Green testified that when he oted on elect on day the in spector garve him a card but he threw it away He sa d he learned after ward tnat he had thrown away a dol lar but he could not find the card Taylor asserted he was a Canadian peVer had been naturalized and was under 21 veara old a,t the time of the last elect on but had voted e ght or ten times rece ving a dollar for each vote He sa d he voted the straight Democratic ticket each time Further Light Shed John W Clark Progressive clerk at the Taylorville registrat on place testi fiod that he wTote m 119 registration applications and that Joe Jeffers the Democrat c prec net committeeman who has pleaded gniltv also wrote some although he was not a member of the registration board On cross examination Clark said Jef fers told him to fill in the applications and he was afraid of Jeffers VI didn t know what he d do to me said Clark I m no trouble hunter and I knew Joe had a gun n his pocket Judge nderson announced there would be no session of the trial tomor Tow out of respect to Judge W H Seamans of the Lmted States d strict court who died recently in California and who will be buried tomorrow |
