Show BAN IS PLACED ON USE OF "PRESERVO" Warning to the meat men of the state, especial) v those in the country towns, that prosecutions will follow any use of "Preservo" or any other sulphurous preservative pre-servative of meats, was issued yesterday by Willard Hansen, state dairy and food commissioner. Mr. Hansen says he has found that a companv is placing a product prod-uct on the market called "Preservo." that Is composed mostly of sulphur. The meat men are directed to burn this in places where meat is kept and thus preserve the meat indefinitely. Mr. Hansen adds that meat treated by this process is injurious to health and. when tested, gives the same chemical reaction re-action as though It contained sulphites. While the placing of this on the market does not come under the food laws, its use for preserving meats or other food products may be punished by a line or imprisonment. |
