The charge oeainst him having been reduced from m.irder in the firsi degree de-gree to, voluntary manslaughter, George Moore, held responsible for the death of Mrs. Sadie Wilkins last May, pleaded guilty beforo Judge M. L. Kitchio in tho district court yesterday aud w-as sentenced to an indeterminate term in tho state prison. Under the law he may serve not less than one year nor more than ten years. Moore asked to be allowed to plead to the lesser charge. The district nt-tornev, nt-tornev, E. O. Leat herwood. said the stato had no objection sincu there was some doubt of the state being able to convict on a murder charl-. Mrs. Wilkins met her death by falling fall-ing or being thrown from an automobile automo-bile of which Mnore was the chauffeur. The tragedy followed a night of revelry, revel-ry, including visits to several nolorious resorts in the. county, loore was arrested ar-rested ami a coroner's inquest held him responsible for the death. Ho was charged with manslauphter, but. later the. charge was changed to murder in tho first degree. |
