Vir-ginia. Jt notes with pleasure that the seed which it planted is already bearing froit. Mr. B. F. Pcdrnau, one of our raoBt progTcssiro citizens, has gone beforo be-foro tho city commissioners and pointed out that tho hot springs have possibilities possibili-ties equal to thoso of any watering placo in tho United States or Europe, and that it would be possible to establish estab-lish a sanitarium tliero to rival thoso at Carlsbad and Baden-Baden. Ho suggested sug-gested that tho city should have ill-sorted ill-sorted in papers in this country aud Europe, particularly German-, advertisements adver-tisements of this opportunity, so that capital might bo obtained to finance the project, lie also proposed that tho city J loaso the sito for an indefinite period to U someone with capital nnd experience who could construct an adequate- hotel nud sanitarium. j ,. In somo respects the analyses of tho ( dt wntcr show that its curative properties I i aro similar to tho?o at Harrogate in England, whore rheumatic and gouty patients obtain great relief. W A resort like that, at .White Sulphur J' Springs, howevor, would have attractions attrac-tions even for those who aro not in , poor health. It would bo a place of rest and quiet ami diversion lo which r peoplo from all over Hie world would throng to enjoy themselves. Tho West j; Virginia resort has become conspicuous in tho public eye because President "Wilson's "Wil-son's family have been spending Bovcrnl weeks there. Salt Lake could obtain r similar publicity by adding this resort J to its many natural attractions, and, it may bo added in passing, no city in the United States is centered in a region T containing so many attractions. jf Tf the project is kept constantly beforo be-foro tho business men of tho city, wo may expect, good results in a short time. 1 It Vould be a splendid thing if the resort could bo constructed in time to draw tho crowds going to and from the San Francisco- exposition. 1 |
