O. A, tonniB eourta on Second South between 8eo-ond 8eo-ond and Third East streets are to be torn down immediately and tho tract convorted into a beauty spot to bo known as the children 'b central playgrounds'. play-grounds'. The work of putting the S rounds' in shape was begun several ays ago and the billboards will be taken ta-ken down next week. It is the intention inten-tion to have tho grounds ready for use about May 1. The tract is owned by tho Salt Lake Free Kindergarton association and haB been leasod to tho city for ton years without charge. The city will expend approximately $1000 in improving tho grounds, which will bo for children under un-der 14 years of age. According to the plans of Commissioner Commis-sioner Hebor M. Wells and- Park Superintendent Super-intendent Nicholas Byhower, tho tract will bo divided into two sections, one I for boys and tho other for girls. This will require two full sets of equipment as indicated in the diagram. The new playgrounds will bo a boon I to tho children or tho downtown district who formerly havo had to play on the buoy streets, the alleys or go to the more distant parks.
