Show JUDGE A. G. NORRELL DIES IN THE SOUTH Was Prominent Resident of Salt Lake for Tears; Former Territorial Commissioner. News was received In this city yesterday yes-terday of the death of Judge Albert G. Norrell, for many years a prominent resident of this city. Judge Norrell, who wan a brother of AV. O. (Doc) 'Norrell, 'Nor-rell, who died in this city a few months ago, passed away at n sanitarium at BlloxJ. Miss., a few days ago. Judge N'orrell came to Salt Lake City in 1S90 as Hulled States commissioner for the then territory. Tie held this position until Utah was admitted to the union in 1SDS and was then elected a Judge of thu Third district court, which ;osIilon ho held for two years. After his retirement re-tirement from the bench. .Tudjro Nor-rcll's Nor-rcll's health began to fall and ho went back to his old home near Jackson, Miss. Judge N'orrell was widely known and very popular In this city. TTe was born in Rankin county, Miss., and when the war broke out, Joined Forrost's cavalry and served until peace was declared. Judge Norrell was only 16 years of ace when ho entered the army. After tho war hft studied law and was admitted to tho bar. lie then practiced law in his homo state until lie came to Utah. Judge Norrell was a typical southerner, southern-er, a gentleman of the old school, and had many frineds in Utah who will be grieved to learn of Tils death. |
