Show REMARKABLE RECORD FOR FRAILIN CAR A car that has been driven 68,000 miles and in that time has had but one bolt n the engine tightened and but two of the 'bearings touched, is ownd by Dr. J. G. Sheldon of Kansas City, Mo. For the past three years that Dr. Sheldon has driven this car, which is a 190S Franklin, ho has had the machine stripped to racing trim. On a recont trip from Kansas City to Syracuse, N. Y., the home of the Franklin, Dr. Sheldon drove the entire distance with two broken rear springs. The right spring was fixed with a block of wood, while tho other ono was just clamped together. On this run, which was over 1200 miles, the machine averaged aver-aged over 300 miles a day. Whon n-sar Rochester the gasoline tank sprung- a leak and before it was discovered tho tank was empCy. Tho discovery was made, however, on the top of a large hill and the machine roasted until it roachod a small country storo a half mile away; there all Dr. Sheldon could purrhaso was kerosene. Ho partly filled the tank with kerosene and drove sovoral miles on it with scarcely anj engino troublo. |
