Larsen of Los Angeles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dormus Larsen, which will l be solemnized in Los Angeles j Saturday evening. Mr. Larsen received part of his education in Bingham Canyon schools and was at one time em ployed by U. S. Mines and Apex j Mine here. He is at present as- - soeiated with the Western Auto company at Beverly Hills. Miss Philipps is an employee of the United- - Air Lines. The couple will make their home in Holly- - ' wood. t Visitor Honored A delightful one o'clock lunch-eon was served last Friday by Mrs. Boyd Nerdin at her home in the Miller apartments. The honoree was her sister-in-la- Mrs. LaVere Miller, who is visit-ing here from Salem, Oregon. A quaker lace tablecloth was used on the table and centered with pink and white sweetpeas which formed base for a white maypole. Pink and blue ribbons flowed from the pole to each place. Little dolls with picture hats made into sachets were fa-vors. Those enjoying the afternoon at bridge included the honored guest and Mrs. F. A. Miller, Mrs. Delia Redmond, Mrs. Ksta tsecK-e- r and Mrs. Nellie Frear of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Agnes Hill. Mrs. Joe Kemp, Mrs. John Myers, Mrs. Tory Tobiason, Mrs. Nona Carri-ga- n and Mrs. Edith Scussel of Bingham. Community church is the Art Appreciation class under leadership of Miss Frances Knerr, deaconess, which Will be held for the first time today at 1:30 p. m. in the church parlor. A review of "Log Cabin Lady" will be given by Miss Knerr and a discussion of wall hangings and tapestry will fol-low. Plans for a chicken dinner sometime in May will also be made, according to Mrs. E. E. Longfellow, president. i Study Group The Lady Democrats Study group will meet with Mrs. John West tonight at 8 p. m. to plan the raffling of a quilt at the Prin-cess Theatre next Thursday ev-ening. SIEBRAND BROS. CIRCUS TO SHOW IN COPPERTON With the blare of bands, the bright lights, and the spangled glamor, one turns to the occas-ion as a period of vacation. For where is the man that won't find some excuse to take the children to the circus to introduce to them the mysteries of pink le-monade and the thrill of the spangled glamor of the Big Top, and mother will go along to look after dad, both cvermindful of the peanuts and popcorn, and memories of their childhood cir-cus days, when the entire family rode into town, 15 miles distant, in the old surrey. I No. 2 Fire Auxiliary Nine members of the No. 2 Fire auxiliary met Monday evening with Mrs. Marlin Eden. Mrs. T. A. Masters and Mrs. Joe Timothy played high at bridge. Refresh-ments were served. L.D.S. Relief Society The Mothers and Daughters party given by the Relief society Wednesday evening at the L. D. S. church was one of the most delightful and successful parties the organization has given this year, following a welcome to guests by Mrs. Elnora Peterson and the invocation by Darlene Johnson, a program was present-ed. The literary lesson given by Mrs. Dee Johanson was an able review of Blackmore's novel, Lorna Doone. Other entertain-ment numbers announced by Miss Helen Morris, chairmen, were: Songs by the Singing Daugh-ters, led by Mrs. D. E. Mitchell; Retold story, Ethel Richards; poem, Mary Lou Lyon; Creative dance, Virginia Harris; a reading, Louise Bentley;. piano solo, Don-na Davies. Refreshments were served by a committee assisting Miss Vir-ginia Harris to 89 persons. The benediction was by Donna Reid. Party Proceeds Go To Rosary Hall First in a series of card parties to be given at Rosary hall by the Altar society of the Catholic Holy Rosary church will be held Tuesday, May 2, at 8 p. m., it was decided at a meeting of the group Tuesday night. Five Hun-dred and Contract bridge will be played and a grand prize of-fered high score holder of the series. Proceeds from the recent Bin-go party were divided by the Altar society members, with $5 going to the Catholic Youth or-ganization for payment on the piano and the remainder voted to be used In payment of card tables and chairs for the hall. Mrs. ' James . Culleton, president, announced that $2.50 prize win-ners in the hope chest chance sales contest were Betty Byrne of Copperfield and Harry Manos. Winning $1 prizes were Colleen Creedon and Rose Camara. Grade Teachers Attend Tea Elementary teachers in the Jordan district schools attended a tea Thursday afternoon at the Midvale junior high school. Dr. C. N. Jensen, superintendent, di-rected the arrangements. Parly Given Newly Weds In compliment to Mr. and Mrs. John Adamek, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sturm were hosts at Sturm's cafe Monday evening with a Chi-nese noodle supper. There were twelve guests. Birthday Party In celebration of her eighth birthday, Barbara Faddis invited the following friends to her par-ty Friday afternoon: Dona Gay Grant, Donna Gay Dowd, Janice Hocking, Janet Stokes, Frances Fullmer, Nan Stokes, Jean Man-gu- Dixie Butterfield, Anna Lee Burress, Gwen Stokes, Darlene Peterson and Richard Dean An-derson. Games were followed by a luncheon served by Barbara's mother, Mrs. W. L. Faddis, and then birthday gifts unwrapped and displayed. ' J. U. Club Mrs. Irene Mayne was hostess Wednesday evening to the J. U. club at her home. Five Hundred prizes went to Mrs. Gene Mil- - ner, Mrs. Bob Streator and Mrs. Ida Mugfur. Refreshments were served. The same group were entertained last Friday at the home of Mrs. Milner. No. 1 Fire Auxiliary lVIrs. John Creedon entertain-ed the No. 1 Fire auxiliary Mon-day evening. Prizes at bridge were given Mrs. Irvin Stillman, Mrs. Clinton Robison and Mrs. Art Cook. Seventeen members were served refreshments. Attend Film Showing The film version of Richard D. Blackmore's famous novel, "Lorna Doone", was shown at the South Jordan junior high school Tuesday afternoon. At-tending the movie were the fol-lowing members of the Bingham L. D. S. Relief society who are planning to study the novel in the literary class work: Jane Spendlove, Victoria Lyon, Pearl Schultz, Christy Woodland, Alice Johnson, Phoebe Johnson, Ada Curtis, Maurine Colby, Lola Jo-hanson, Ella Cook, Rita Mauck-le- y, Rita McNeely and Lottie Rawlings. 4 " V" Rebekahs Attending a meeting of Ruth Rebekah lodge No. 7 at the home of Mrs. Basil Doman in Copper-to- n were fifteen members. Con-tract bridge prizes were won by Mrs. Charles Sullenger, Mrs. James Denver and Miss Althea Christensen. A luncheon was served. Linger Longer Mrs. Ross Cushing entertained the Linger Longer club last Thursday night, the occasion be-i- tt the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Ray Buckle of Copperton. Mrs. Irvin Stillman won first prize, Mrs. Buckle second and Mrs. Gordon Buckle the travel-ing prize. A luncheon was served to nine. Bridge Club Mrs. Parker Gray was hostess to her bridge club Friday. Mrs. Loren Stokes and Mrs. Cliff Lar-son won high score awards and Mrs. Leonard Miller of Copper-to- n was a guest. A spring motif was used for favors on the lunch-eon tables. |
