Juno 30 Speculation Is tampant all over southern Idaho through tho drawing of a special grand Jury to convene in Boise on July 9 to conduct a secret probo Into evidence that will be produced by tho government alleging that the federal lawn have been violated by conspirators wishing to acquire public domain without tho right to do so and for the alleged violation of tho postal laws. The main case to be investigated by the grand Jury, according to reports that are believed to bo reliable in federal fed-eral circles is that growing out of the alleged unlawful lottory conducted at Medbury on the Medbury townslle In southern Idaho, when the land In tho Medbury townslto tract was thrown open to entry. Subpoenas for almost 100 witnesses have been Issued out of tho federal court on the order of Judge Frank S. Dietrich, summoning to Boise on July 9 many men of prominence who are believed to know something about the cases that are to be Investigated by tho Jury. Tho Medbury case was before a grand Jury less than, a year ago. At that time true bills wcro not returned, as the evidence evi-dence produced was not sufficient to warrant war-rant indictments being filed. It Is understood un-derstood that the government agents havo been working on the case and have additional evidence to lay beforo the now grand Jury. When the Medbury opening was held, it is alleged, drawings were given for property within the townslte and the malls woro used as tho medium lo give publicity to tho Rchomc. Included In the drawings was one hotel to bo given to tho lucky number holder. Tho promoters promo-ters of the drawing declare that they wore well within the law and that they did nothing not legitimate. They aro willing to go before a grand Jury, they say, and present their sldo of the case. |
