Show 10 MARKET FDR ITICJOi ORE Iron King- Closed Down on. Account of No Demand for Product. SMELTERS MAY BUY Silver Prices Felt During' the Week by Iron Blossom 1 I and Others. The Eureka Reporter has the following to say about the mines of Tlntlc: The Iron King mine In the eastern end of the district has been closed down, presumably pre-sumably because the msmagement did not care to continue the development of tho big deposits of Iron while there is no market for this product. For several , months past the men employed under Superintendent George Parker have been developing the Iron ore, the work being handled through the main tunnel, and It is safe to say that the oro which Is now blocked out in thnt part of the mlno exceeds ex-ceeds 100,000 tons. All of the amcltcic noed iron ore, but most of the plants own their own Iron mines, and while they cannot produce ore at their own properties proper-ties any cheaper than they can got It In Tlntlc, It is. of course, to their Interest to work their own ground. There are reasons to believe that the Iron deposits of this section will eventually eventu-ally pans Into the hands of the smelters, the oro being of a better grade than that produced In other parts of the state. Silver Prices Help. The advance in the price of sliver, which means a substantial Increase In the earnings of the Iron Blossom mine, coupled with tho general Improvement upon somo of the levels of the property, no doubt accounts for tho advance In the price of Iron Blossom stock. From the 600 level of the No. 3 workings tho ore bodv has been developed on Its strike for a distance of fully S00 feet, and the width of tho ore will no doubt be about, tils same as upon tho level above from flftoon to thirty feet. The reports from the No. 1 workings are also of an encouraging en-couraging nature. This weok's output from the Bock Tunnel mine Included two carloads, or about 100 tons of ore, which was taken from the old workings of tho property. A few men have been a t work In that part, of the mine for a.bout a. month, and while thev have failed to open any great quantity of shipping ore, there Is enough oro exposed In small bunches to make their work quite profitable to the company. com-pany. The ore sent out from thero this week will carry about 25 per cent lead, 25 ounces silver and $4 In gold. Tho drift which is now being driven for the purpose of getting below the ore thn,t. is being mined from the main tunnel tun-nel level of this mine Is now in a distance dis-tance of about 100 feet, and possibly 200 foet more work will be necessai-y before the objective point Is reached. Opohongo Shipments. The usual amount of ore is being sent out each week from th Opohongo mine at Mammoth and the superintendent. Samuel Cox. reports tho property as being be-ing In snlendld condition. In the drift on the 100O level, which Is being driven for the purnosc of getting tho qre body which has already been mined to a depth of 700 feet, there Is about two feet of quartz which carries some values. It will perhaps bo ncccssarv to oxtond this drift 100 feet before connecting with tho ore. but tho work will bo through an important piece of ground. Some of tho oro taken" from tho 700 level has been found to carry good values val-ues in gold, twenty tons, which was mined recently, bringing from J20 to $50 per ton In the yellow metal and a. few ounces of silver. Within the next dav or two an active campaign of development work will bo under way at the Tlntlc Central property prop-erty In the eastern end of this district. Thomas Holdaway. who was connected with the Tlntlc Central before tho shut down of the mine last year, and who is a brother of A. N. Holdaway. who was at that time the manager for this company, com-pany, will superintend the now work. The hoist Is electrically driven and the power will be purchased from the Knight company and t lie air for the machine drills will bo scoured from the same source. Two shifts will be used and tho prospecting of the ground rushed along as rapidly as possible. Grand Central Is Deep. Another two weeks' work should out the shaft at tho Grand Central mine down to a depth of 2325 reel, making it the- deepest shaft in tho district and perhaps the deepest In the entire state. In order to go below this nolnt longer cables will havo to be added to the present pres-ent hoisting- equipment of this mine. Tho Grand Central workings are entirely froe from water and us soon as the sinking Is completed a station will be cut on the 2300 level and drifting taken up. the first drift on this level to be driven toward the southeast, where the ore should be encountered without any great amount of prospecting. Bveryone who Is Interested In the growth and development of the Tlntlc district will be pleased to learn that operations are to be taken un at once at the property of the Tlntlc Mining & Development company. Thla company com-pany owns a group of claims which adjoin ad-join the Mammoth and Gold Chain mines, and It was through this ground that, the old Sloux-AJax tunnol was driven many years ago. this tunnel being one of the longest in tho entire district, dis-trict, reaching entirely through tho mountain to the Carlsa mlno. 13. M. Sheehan. who will have chargo of lb new work, which It Is the Intention of the management to do at this time, arrived ar-rived at Mammoth during the week ami stales that work will commence lust ns soon as some now machinery and supplies sup-plies arrice. which will undoubtedly be within the noxt few day.
