Show GARnIENT WORKERS APPEAR VICTORS Strike Situation in Chicago Clearing Up, With Laborers in the Lead. CHICAGO, Nov. 3. Peace offerings by several clothing concerns, full settlement by two companies, several minor riots and a report that the garment strike would extend to eastern cities, were today's to-day's developments in the garment workers' work-ers' strike here. Tonight there is a well-defined feeling among labor leaders thai tho backbone of the opposition Is broken and there Is little fear that It will spread to other cities. The feeling of the strikers that the tide has turned In their favor camo with the signing of an agreement by Colin, RIssman . Co. and Alschulcr, Dreycr & Co., by which 500 men arc to roturn to work for each Ilnn. No mention of wages Is made In the agreement, which provides fortyclght hours' work each week for cullers and fifty-four hours for miscellaneous employes. The agreement agree-ment also gives the firms the right to use the union label and Is hold by the strlkorn to be a victory. The chief refused to permit per-mit the parade, on the ground that it might lead to riots. Several wagon-loads wagon-loads of patrolmen rushed to the scene, dispersed the crowd with their clubs and arrested one girl, Anna Krai, who had passed the lines, entered tho shop and persuaded several strike-breakers to leave their work.
