"I want to toll you that the ritual of the Moose lodge, or order, embraces every ev-ery good thing found In any fraternal order, from Masonry down. Young In Years. "The Moose is not. In point of years, an old order. It was organized in 18SS by Dr. J. II Wilson of Louisville. Ky. Ind.. tho home of General Gen-eral Lew Wallace, was the only place that preserved the grand, humane prin-J clptes upon which our order is founded. "From that small beginning wo now hnvc 505 lodges, prosperous and in good standing. "My attention in the most favorable manner was attracted to fc'alt Lake last year by the energetic endeavors of your representatives from Sail Lake lodge No. 59 at. Detroit. They worked lncessantlv and It Is only fair txj say that their work may result in the bringing' of the national convention of Moose to Salt Lako in August. Au-gust. 1912. It would be unfair on my part If I should withhold tho names of tho men from the Salt Iake lodge who did such splendid work in behalf of Salt Lake and the west. The gentlemen to whom I refer are IT. W. Dennett. A. S. Fowler, li. R. Sargent, J. T. Rulelgh and F. IT. Worsley. Pleased With City. "It has been about twenty years since my last visit to Salt Lake and since my arrival this afternoon I have been taken over the city a distance of seventy-two miles. I have been entertained at the Commercial club In my Judgment the finest clubhouse in the west have seen your modern buildings, and am frank to say that Salt Lake Is prepared lo take care of any gathering that may conclude to assemble In this city. "Speaking of the probability that the national Moose convention may be held here. I can assure you that at least 3000 delegates will be presont and not !esa than 40.000 members and friends." |
